Beta becoming negative in calculating p

Calculating the order of convergence sometimes fails because the parametre beta becomes negative. A log is then attempted to be taken at that point which breaks it. Currently, the calculation is stopped with a None returned but there might be a better solution to this.

I've kind of patched this for the time being by putting a try around it and a lame it doesn't work otherwise. It would be nice to get a better results but I've not got time for it now.
